What are Shopify Metafields?
Metafields are Shopify's way of storing additional, structured information on a product (and other resources) beyond the standard fields such as title, price and description.
Why it matters
A metafield has a namespace, a key, a type and a value — for example a product's fabric or fit. Themes can display metafields on product pages, and apps and storefront filters can read them.
Because they are structured, metafields are far more useful than the same information buried in a description: they can drive filters, comparison tables and structured data.
How Pixigen helps
Pixigen writes the attributes it extracts to Shopify as metafields, with a store setting that decides whether your theme can read them.
