What is an SEO Title (Title Tag)?

An SEO title, or title tag, is the HTML title of a page — the clickable headline search engines usually display in results and the text shown in the browser tab.

Why it matters

The title tag is one of the strongest on-page signals of what a page is about. For products, a descriptive title — brand, colour, material and type — matches the way shoppers search.

Shopify lets each product's SEO title differ from its on-page product title, so the two can be tuned separately.
